Minecraft Compass Tool Recipe:
Compass Tool can be rafted by using Iron Ingot and Red stone. Players can also buy a compass from any librarian villager for 12 emeralds. Also, players can find compasses in 11% of the library chests.
Minecraft Compass Tool Usage:
The compass points towards the spawn point of the world. It will point towards that direction in all cases whether it is:
- In the player’s hand
- Dropped as an item
- In an item frame
- In inventory
- One a craft table
In Nether, which is an alternate world, the compass will point in random directions and keep spinning. The compass can also be used as a Crafting Ingredient. It is used to craft a map that shows location marker. To create such a map, two ingredients are used namely Paper and Compass. In Pocket edition, players can form a map with location marker by joining Map and Compass using Anvil Tool.
Compasses can also be used for trading in the following ways.
- One compass can be sold to a cartographer villager for 1 emerald.
- It can be used to buy maps. Ocean explorer maps can be bought by 12-20 emeralds and a compass .
- Players can buy woodland explorer maps using 2uemeralds and a compass
Compasses were introduced in Alpha 1.1.0 version. In further editions, players could buy compasses from villages and cartographers were added to the game. They trade compasses in their second tier trade.
There were a few bugs and issue which were later fixed. In multiplayer, the direction of compass was inconsistent. Compasses either do not point towards spawn or break and point in random directions. Some players could not use Anvil to form maps with location markers on them using compass and paper.
