The fishing rod tool is a tool used in Minecraft to catch fish. With a durability of 65, this tool is Renewable. It is not stackable though.

Players can craft a fishing rod by using three sticks and pieces of strings by crafting them in a fishing rod position. Two damaged fishing rods combined with extra 5% durability can also form a new fishing rod. While fishing, players can also obtain enchanted fishing rods as a treasure item. On the other hand, unenhanced ones can be obtained as junk item.
Villagers also sell fishing rods for 8 emeralds. If the players use Carrot on a stick to an extent that it’s durability reaches zero, it also turns into a fishing rod.
Minecraft Fishing Rod Tool Usage:
The main usage is for catching fish. Different processes use different durability.
- Catching a fish costs 1 durability.
- Reeling while in water takes no durability.
- Reeling while on ground costs 2 durability.
It is also used as a crafting ingredient for Carrot on a stick. A carrot and a fishing rod is used to form this tool. The fishing rods can also be used to hook players, mobs and even entities just like Lead Tool. Some entities can be hooked but cannot be reeled.
A fishing rod can also be used as fuel in furnace just like an Axe Tool.

The fishing rod gets quite aa few enchantments including Lure, Luck of Sea, Unbreaking and Mending.
The achievement is to harvest some leather.
The fishing rods were introduced in version 1.1.1. Initially, they had no function. Later, they could be used to catch fish and also a fuel for furnace. Now, they create a sound when use or changed.
There were a few issues with this tool. There was a bug due to which the fishing rod did not work properly and the items reeled by the rod did not move smoothly.
